Artist's Comments: The Radcliffe Oxford Camera building at Oxford University is one of the most striking pieces of architecture I have ever seen. This piece is a collage of colors and forms suggesting the building is behind a garden and a bench. This was the vantage point from which I first saw the building, on a small corner.

Artist's Comments: This piece depicts an Amsterdam canal from the vantagepoint of one of the many small bridges that line the canal district of the city. I used the vibrant colors of tulips to fill in the forms of boats and buildings. The exaggerated horizon never seems to end, giving the piece a sense of infinity.

Artist's Comments: While my wife was pregnant with triplet boys we were going to ultrasounds two or three times a week. This piece shows the three boys and the two placentas in utero. Artist's Comments: Dante's Inferno depicts the nine circles of hell. In this piece, nine souls are each trapped in their own hell. Heaven and hell, I think, are places we live in while we are alive. We put ourselves in heaven or hell through our thoughts and actions. Thoughts of the Buddhist wheel of life and the idea that we are all trapped by some vice.

Artist's Comments: A spirit with a golden aura is an unusually good spirit. In this piece, it rises through material reality to a new, more colorful plane of existence. Perhaps towards nirvana, perhaps towards heaven... Perhaps even towards a planet where beings are free to create.

Artist's Comments: A small seedling rises up towards the sun and moon, ready to sprout its first set of leaves. As a botanist, I have often wondered about the energy and consciousness of plants. Another image in this piece is the praying, pious gecko creature that appears somber. A reference to reverence.

Artist's Comments: I began merging unusual concepts and form some time ago. Here, the female form is shown as flowing green plantlife in an imagined seabed. In pieces such as this, I use thick, writhing strokes of paint to preserve a myriad of intermediate colors that can only be seen close up.

Artist's Comments: From the cool void comes consciousness and being. The order and regularity of material reality rises up to form complex minds. Thoughts of the evolution of the universe, from homogenous gasses, to planets and stars, to us, all rising out of what was once not aware. Awareness from that which is unaware? Or, was it aware the whole time?

Artist's Comments: Alien life forms would likely be so foreign looking and acting that we would have a hard time telling what they are and how to communicate. As in Stanislaw Lem's "Solaris", alien life would probably not be humanoid. Given millions of years of advancement, the possibilites of intelligent life self-evolving with or without technology are limitless.

Artist's Comments: Noumena, that which may or may not underly phenomena, is so foreign to us that we may not even be able to represent it at all. However, if it were possible to observe through some transcendent means, the strangeness would overcome us. It certainly has me. I get stuck sometimes in this puzzle we call reality, stuck in a very familiar game that seems to underly everything.
